The new Untitled Vampire Play by Kevin Douglas is a fun night out, but be sure to wear something washable because there are literally buckets of blood. Big black capes are completely advised!  It's a cross cultural love story, with a human and a vampire trying to navigate just who they are and what their relationship can be when their lives are so different: No daytime strolls.  One of you will age, the other will not. Commitment has radically different timelines. Lots of deep conversations need to happen even as the relationship wants to escalate to another level.

The human, Dom, an adorable Jordan Orredondo, has loving parents: the cop Alicia, played by Cynthia Kaye McWilliams, who is investigating some serial murders, and stay at home retired dad Louie, played by Kareem Bandealy who nails every bad dad joke. Bandealy also plays the requisite Vampire Hunter: Lance Tardis Van Helsing.   The vampire Val, played by badass Courtney Rikki Green, has a family of sorts too: narcissistic and terminally attractive (for his victims)Roderick played by Walter Briggs, and a quirky room-mate progeny/sister Rose played by Jin Park.  We all know these human/vampire relationships are rocky– this one is a bit more graphic up close and live.

This play is chock full of modern and pop culture vampire lore rendering it canon as a very fun 2 hours steeped in mythology and relationship dynamics.  Director Devon de Mayo has made sure this cast keeps you moving and delighted, as well as grossed out.  The evening I attended was literary night with pre show poetry on demand and a scholarly vampire panel after.  There were many folks who garbed up for the occasion in goth wear and capes, and those sharp teeth were evident at the bar where some very imaginative themed cocktails and mocktails were being poured.

Don’t tarry– you don’t have centuries to enjoy this show: Untitled Vampire Play is only playing Tuesday through Sundays only until July 12th, 2026 at the Lookingglass Theatre, 163 E Pearson Street in the historic Water Tower pumping station.  For tickets and information go to https://lookingglasstheatre.org/plays/untitled-vampire-play/
