It is a snapshot of a young man growing closer to his grandfather (Ron Rifkin) as they love and betray each other. It is also a portrait of the Brighton Beach community, still struggling to understand the horrible choices made in peace time are just as harrowing as those made in the past. The ensemble members in the community scenes are rugged and real, great work is done by all.
Eric Steel's impressive direction is stately and steady, the emotions perfectly magnified by David Krakauer and Kathleen Tagg’s music.
MINYAN is featured at Reeling Film Fest.
