MARE OF EASTTOWN grabs and won’t let go

MARE OF EASTTOWN is one of those series that gets a sneaky grab on you in the first episode: not all is clear, and there are way too many characters and events to keep track of. But at the heart of it is the great Kate Winslet, who as a performer has such a wonderful track record for choosing excellent scripts that she completely submerges herself into.

MARE is a divorced cop with serious survivor issues, a complicated family, and a glimmer of hope for a normal love life. We her at work with her partner, and home with her mother and family members, and out in the community which gives her a wide berth. We see her at home with her mother, at work with her partner, and out in a community that gives her respect – but all keep their distance.

Each episode ramps up the tension. We know a girl has been murdered. We meet a priest with a creepy past. There are false paternity tests, and families ripped asunder. After three episodes, I am hooked and cannot wait to see how it all works out.
